“Introduce yourself! What are 5 things that everyone going to BiSC should know about you?”

1. I live in DC and love the following things, most of which I plan on incorporating into this magical Vegas weekend: karaoke, brunch, cats, sugar free red bull, whiskey, dancing, Channing Tatum (he’ll be there, right?), and every kind of cheese you can throw at me. But please don’t actually throw the cheese — that seems like a waste.

2. I own enough strange costume items to host my own weird photobooth type shoot. Wigs, hair fascinators, animal onesies, masks — you name it, I probably own it.

“Introduce yourself! What are 5 things that everyone going to BiSC should know about you?”

1. I don’t like Las Vegas. But I do like fun people, laughing, light drinking, shopping, whiskey tasting, shows, and activities, so, when I attend Bloggers in Sin City, I opt to ignore all the Vegasness of it all and focus on your lovely faces. This works out. I recommend it.

2. These are the three things people notice about me most: First, I am a small person. Want to know a secret? I’M ACTUALLY NOT. I’m almost 5’5″, which is the average height of an American woman, but I look like either a Hobbit or an underdeveloped 12-year-old boy. Second: My voice carries nowhere but my laugh reaches the farthest corners of the universe. Third: Hi, I have great hair, the end.

“Introduce yourself! What are 5 things that everyone going to BiSC should know about you?”

All of me encapsulated into five bullet points? No pressure or anything, just how my 75 new best friends are going to judge me before they meet me? Good thing I have a degree in professional malarkey. Commencing in 3…2…1…

1. I blog at two different locations. One is pseudo-anonymously at http://texancountess.wordpress.com and the other I completely own up to my identity at http://laughterwithyou.wordpress.com. The first is my crazy dumping ground for anything and everything that pops into my head. The second is a slightly edited me that tells friends and family all about my travels and life as an pseudo-expatriate. If you haven’t noticed, I like to use the word pseudo as a prefix. Sorry I’m not sorry.

2. I am a pseudo-expatriate thanks to my husband’s job, which has had us living outside the US since 2010. So far we’ve spent 17 months in Southern Germany and we’re halfway through our 24 months in Southern Turkey. We aren’t sure where is next after here, but we’re sort of hoping for Germany, England, or Japan. Just don’t tell our families that we have any choice in the matter. We like traveling and climbing on things that aren’t necessarily safe.

“Introduce yourself! What are 5 things that everyone going to BiSC should know about you?”

1. I once went on a date with a man that requested I refer to him by his “music” name, Dyuce. With a ‘y’. He then proceeded to play me snippets of his latest track on his phone while I cringed into my sweet potato fries and live tweeted my shame. Later on (because I was foolish enough not to leave at once), he tried to kiss me and when I ran away, he sent me a text message telling me I was being “koi” [sic] and asking when I wanted to see him again. This was my response: http://loopc.am/uncletypewriter/loops/2

2. I think I might be the only UK blogger attending BiSC this year and you can thank Dominique (@aduronia) for that. The woman is a silver-tongued, persuasive she-devil whose baking skills can reduce you to tears of joy. I should also take this opportunity to tell you that my accent does not resemble that of the Queen but is just London enough to provide some mild entertainment.

1. I believe that for every one of life’s little problems or major calamities, there is an episode of “Dawson’s Creek” to dispense appropriately sage advice. Sleeping with your high school English teacher? Dad in jail for trafficking? Drunkenly stumble off a pier & drown? There’s an ep for that.

2. I really, really, really like the Midwest. A lot – and you’ll hear it in all my nasally Akron A’s. I’ll probably make fun of your accent, but I’ll never cop to the fact that my own might be strange. And no, I don’t sound anything like the mom from “Bobby’s World.”

1. I know it’s Vegas, but one of the things I’m most excited for is to share nachos with a specific other BiSCuit. But, this has grown to at least a table of five, and the more the merrier!

2. According to Katherine, I have one of the cutest babies ever! (I have to agree.) And he’s technically been to BiSC. This time he will not be attending with me.

“Introduce yourself! What are 5 things that everyone going to BiSC should know about you?”

1. I’ve been running the blog Simply, Valorie since early 2009, but sometime soon I’ll be launching a new blog about being a recovering approval addict. Name of said blog is still up for debate, fact that it’s happening is SO NOT.

2. I’m approximately obsessed with giraffes. You know that DirecTV commercial with the Russian guy and the tiny giraffe? Cried actual tears the first time I saw it because HI, WANT. THEY HUG, YOU GUYS.

1. I have an addiction to Jeopardy and it is my biggest life dream to be a contestant one day. (I’m going to go watch it right after I’m done writing this). Sometimes I even keep track of how much I would win during an episode. They really just need to fast-track me to the Tournament of Champions.

2. If you were to offer me One Direction or Justin Bieber concert tickets right now, I wouldn’t say no.
